Initial stabilization of a fracture involves applying a splint, typically for approximately one week, depending on the severity of the fracture. Our team is professionally trained in splinting techniques, including short arm splints, ulnar gutter splints, radial gutter splints, finger splints, and lower leg splints, ensuring optimal immobilization and comfort for patients.
Casting is typically initiated approximately one week after the fracture, once initial swelling has subsided. We utilize fiberglass material for casting, although plaster may be used in certain cases. Our team specializes in applying minimal and comfortable casts that stabilize the fracture while allowing patients to maintain their daily activities. Additionally, water-resistant casts are available for added convenience.
The duration of cast wear depends on the type of fracture, and patients are closely monitored with X-rays to assess their progress. Following cast removal, physical therapy may be recommended to facilitate full strength and activity restoration.
